Team Ghana endured a very woeful first day at the ongoing 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, England. Australia topped the medal charts after day 1 with an impressive 8 gold medals, 4 silver medals and 4 bronze medals, making a total of 16 medals.
Ghana failed to win a medal in triathlon, with Mark Ofusu and Mercy Pappoe settling for 39th and 32nd respectively in the men’s and women’s triathlon events.
Swimmer, Zaira Forson also failed to qualify to the next stage of the women’s 200m freestyle whiles Fredrick Assor Mensah Rudolf finished 7th in the Men’s cycling Tandem time trial.
