Honourable Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah, the Western Regional Minister, has proved loyalism by not overlooking one of the acts considered unacceptable here in the country.
Renowned galamsy kingpin, Nana Okobeng, the Chief Executive Officer(CEO) of Okobeng mining company was escorted by the cops to the Police station after he was nabbed at Aroma plaza for mining illegally in Gwira, a town in the Evalue-Ajomoro-Gwira constituency and an area of the Nzema east district all in the Western Region.
Upon our scout, the galamsy kingpin has been mining illegally while destroying lands without a mining permit and no lease.
Meanwhile, about three months ago, he said the below words following speculations about the outcome of his mining activities on the water bodies.
“For those spreading the falsehood with the intention of seeing my back, I have news for you. I am not a galamseyer, I don’t even do alluvial mining. I mine large-scale and my mining activities do not destroy water bodies.”
 “Those who want to destroy me should get their facts right. I don’t do illegal mining, so I cannot destroy water bodies. My company competes with international companies so best and standard practice is our hallmark.”
“I come from the Evalue Ajomoro area and Dominase is where my concession is. Everyone who cares to know can come and check. I don’t do galamsey.”
