NDC Primaries: Dr. Kwabena Duffour withdraws from Presidential race

Dr. Kwabena Duffour has pulled out of the race for Flagbearship within the National Democratic Congress ahead of tomorrow’s polls.

The flag bearer hopeful, this evening at the institute for fiscal studies addressed the media on his withdrawal from the flagberer race in his party due to his displeasure for the unaddressed consistencies he called out.

Prior to his withdrawal, Dr. Kwabena Diffour earlier in the Acra High Court today withdrew his suit for an injunction to be placed on the primaries to be held which was followed by a strucking out of the case by the court.

After a meeting with the party executives, the NDC’s position on the primaries being held as scheduled still stood without attending to inconsistencies raised by Dr. kwabena Duffour. He expressed his disappointment of the party to stand by their position of organizing the election as General Secretary of the NDC Fiifi Kwettey mentioned in court that the elections shall still be held regardless the injuction and call for review of the inconsistencies in the photo album.

Electoral materials has been dispatched to the various centers for the conduct of the election this evening.

In his resignation letter, Dr. Kwabena Duffour mentioned that he is resigning as the photo album and delegates list “is blatantly flawed with irregularities regardless my effort to draw their attention to same”

He further thanked his supporters for their unwavering support and assured his Ahoto project will continue regardless.

“I will like to thank my supporters sincerely nationwide on my unwavering faith in the team DKB who have done marvelous work in the past two years trying to build a party that when given power, will govern and rescue this nation from where we are now” he said.

“I assure you that we will continue to fight the cause of the grassroot for betterment of the party and my ‘Ahoto Project’ for most years will continue. I love the party, I love Ghan and will do all I can to make the party soar and Ghana soar” he assured.

The race for the flagbearer of the National Democratic party ahead of the 2024 general elections currently has two standing candidates, Former President, John Dramani Mahama and Kojo Bonsu.
