Messi back to Barca; La Porta keen on star’s return

Spanish giant, Barcelona are keen on readmitting Lionel Messi back into the team after he left for a season to Paris Saint Germain.

The current La Liga champions in their interactions with the media have revealed their interest in bringing their legend and 7 times Ballon d’or winner Lionel Andres Messi back to the club.

Lionel Messi joined French side Paris Saint Germain in the summer of 2021 on a free transfer from his home Barcelona. He left on an agreed contract reported to be £94m. He wanted to renew his contract with the Catalans and even receive a 50% pay cut but Barcelona did not meet La Liga’s salary cap restrictions hence they had to release Messi on a free transfer.

Barcelona President Joan Larpota has assured the fans the return of Lionel Messi as they are doing everything possible to bring the legend back to his home.

“We will do everything we can to bring Leo Messi back to Barcelona” he said.

“Messi deal? We will discuss about that, yes. We are working to have the possibility to build a very competitive team next season. Iwould love Messi to come back. I have spoken to Messi, we’ve recovered the relationship. It was very nice”. He added.

On rumours of the star signing for Saudi Arabia’s Al Hilal, he stated that Barca can compete with any club.

“Al Hilal bid? Barça is Barça. This club can compete with everyone. In Arabia they are doing a good job and investing… but I insist, Barça is his home. We want Leo” he stated.
