Bayern fires Oliver Kahn

Bayern Munich have sacked their CEO Oliver Kahn and Sporting Director Hasan Salihamidžić shortly after winning the Bundesliga trophy following a poor season performance.

Today, after a dramatic 2-1 win over FC Koln to clinch the Meisterchale at RheinEnergieStadion, Bayern Munich’s Supervisory Board announced the firing of Hasan Salihamidžić and Oliver Khan.

This per reports stems from the rough season the Bavarian side have witnessed  after they couldn’t wrap up their victory easily but for a Borussia Dortmund draw and the shocking decision to fire Julian Nagelsmann brought them under scrutiny.

Manager for the Reds, Thomas Tuchel mentioned on Friday that even the Bundesliga title will not deny the poor performance they put out this season.

In a club statement, they thanked Oliver Kahn for his contribution to the club and mentioned how imperative it was to sack him.

“We would like to thank Oliver Kahn for his commitment, his ideas and for everything we have achieved together. He will always remain a great figure at FC Bayern. We wish him all the best for his future.”

‘The decision to part with Oliver Kahn was anything but easy for the supervisory board. Nevertheless, due to the overall development, we have come to the decision to make a new appointment at the top of the executive board.” The statement read.

Currently, the club has replaced Oliver Khan with Jan-Christian Dreesen, the current vice-chairman of the board, as the Chief Executive Officer of Bayern Munich. Hebert Hainer, Chairman of the FC Bayern Supervisory Board lauded  Jan-Christian Dreesen for his ten years contribution and also created the impression that he knows the blue print of the team.

“Jan-Christian Dreesen has done an outstanding job for FC Bayern over the past ten years. He lives FC Bayern, knows the club inside out and knows what is important here. We are very pleased that he is taking on this task. He can get to work without a period of adjustment, and that’s exactly what FC Bayern needs in the current situation.” he stated.

Jan-Christian Dreesen, FC Bayern CEO said, “I would like to thank our supervisory board for the trust they have placed in me. Actually, I had planned something else in my life – but when FC Bayern calls, you leave everything else behind.”

Oliver Khan after the Barvarians win tweeted he was ‘forbidden’ by the club from joining them. “Unbelievable! A big compliment and congratulations guys! I always told you so! Always give everything to the end and never give up. I am incredibly proud of you and this achievement! I would like to celebrate with you, but unfortunately I can’t be with you today because the club has forbidden me. I’m looking forward to next season. We will not only be German champions for the 12th time! Let’s celebrate!”
