Ex- Paris Saint Germain Coach, Mauricio Pochettino has been announced as the new Chelsea Manager in a two-year contract with an option to renew.
The Blues suffered a spell in the season as they missed all European competition spots, thus the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League, and UEFA Conference League. Finishing 12th behind Crystal Palace on the League table with 11 wins, 11 draws and 16 loses, they accumulated 44 points out of 38 games played, and managed to score 38 goals and conceded 47 goals to finish the season.
With a bloated squad stemming from the £600m spent on transfers, Chelsea appointed three Managers who struggled to find an European competition slot for the Blues. The sacking of German Thomas Tuchel, Brighton’s Graham Potter and the latter appointment of Ex- Blues Midfielder, Frank Lampard as Interim Manager all proved futile.
The 51 year old Argentine will commence his work at Stamford Bridge from 1 July. He joins the club with valuable experience in the Premier League and French Ligue 1 as he led Paris Saint Germain to lift the Ligue 1 trophy and Coupe de France. He comes with his staff: Jesus Perez, Miguel d’Agostino, Toni Jimenez and Sebastiano Pochettino.
