The Duo Concept Foundation interacted with students from selected schools in the Greater Accra region to talk about the dangers of drug abuse at an event held at the Mamprobi Community Library on Saturday, 13th July, 2024.
At the event, foundation volunteers read a book titled “The Light of Akimbu” to students from junior high schools in Mamprobi, Korle Gonno, and Dansoman. The book, situated in a family and school setting, outlines the possible ways young adults can be drawn into the use of illicit drugs and how this can negatively impact their lives.
In a conversation after the reading, co-founders of the foundation, Panin and Kakra Acheampong, engaged the students in discussions on ways to avoid bad company and concentrate on securing a better future for today’s youth.
Mr Oswald Okaitey, chief executive of Read Ghana Read and facilitator of the event, led the children in poetry recitals and dramatization of active reading.
The Duo Concept Foundation is a non-governmental organization that aims to empower young adults in deprived communities and orphanages. It works through peer mentorship and the provision of resources for the less privileged in Ghana.
