Bayern wins Bundesliga title for the 11th consecutive time

Bayern Munich clinch their 11th Bundesliga title in a dramatic final day win against FC Koln which dashed Borrusia Dortmund’s hopes of being crowned the champions.

Bayern Munich managed to secure the first place on the league table after Main 05 denied Borussia Dortmund a safe flight to win the league in a 2-2 draw.

The Black and yellows needed a full three points against Mainz 05 to hit a 79 points ahead of Bayern who would have gotten 77 after they crushed FC Koln.

In a decisive game at RheinEnergieStadion in Cologne, Bayern Munich managed to draw a 77 / 77 points tie with title contenders, Dortmund and carried the day with a goal difference of 54 as against Dortmund’s 39.

Jamal Musiala’s 89th minute goal kept the Meisterchale in the Possession of Bayern Munich fo the 11th consecutive time.

Frenchman Kingsley Coman’s early goal in the 8th minute set the Star of the South on the winning pace.

They nearly sealed a two goals first half victory when Leroy Sane’s goal was disallowed by a VAR check when Linton Maina kicked the ball into his arm before he passed to Serge Gnabry handball and timed his run to dash the ball into the net.

The victory tatsed sour for Bayern when Dejan Ljubicic’s penalty kick levelled it for FC Koln after a VAR decision granted FC Koln a penalty when Serge Gnabry committed a handball foul in the 18 yard box.

Musiala sounded the victory trumpet for Bayern when he scored the decider in the 83rd minute with a powerful shot outside the penalty area  which the goal keeper couldn’t deny. 

It ended Borrussia Dortmund’s title hopes and instituted the Meisterchale in Allianz Arena for the 11 th time.

“I think anyone who’s interested in soccer, particularly German soccer, will say we don’t deserve it, and I understand, because our second half of the season was so chaotic, on the field, off the field. But this moment is still unbelievable for the group, that’s what will be remembered, it’s crazy” Thomas Muller remarked .

Bayern now holds the record of winning the Bundesliga for 11 times consecutively since 2012.
