Consider entrepreneurship in addition to your chosen career paths – Western Regional Minister Urges Youth

The Western Regional Minister and Member of Parliament for Takoradi, Hon Okyere Darko Mensah has called on the youth to consider blending entrepreneurship with academics as the benchmark to success.

According to the Minister, his region was home to a variety of talents and creative minds waiting to be unleashed adding that the youth were the driving force to societal advancement.

He was speaking at the 67th Independence Day parade organized at the Gyandu Park at Sekondi to commemorate Ghana’s historic milestone post-colonial rule.

“Our region is home to a wealth of untapped talents in various fields from arts, entrepreneurship and innovation….We present a future of not only your economy but also your aspirations and dreams of our people. You are therefore the driving force to any nation’s development” he indicated.

He further underscored that the youth had the potential to create innovative ideas that could be harnessed to shape a brighter future for the region.

He therefore encouraged residents, especially the teeming youth to consider entrepreneurship in addition to their academics to address local and global challenges.

He reminded them to be unique in their thinking and desist from siphoning already existing ideas of other individuals.

“ Don’t be copycats…Come with original ideas that can scale and that can flourish and that can solve problems in our dear nation. I, therefore, employ you to have a red car mentality to spot opportunities and create wealth for the development of the western region”. he pointed out.

When questioned about the suspended infrastructural projects in the region, he stated that plans were underway to resume and complete the projects in the shortest possible time.

He assured residents that his Ministry was working tirelessly and collaborating with relevant stakeholders to ensure that the uncompleted projects were ready for public use promptly.

Present at the anniversary celebrations were Ministers, MPs, Religious bodies, Civil societies, and high school students.
