BET Award-winning hip-hop artist Michael Owusu, known by his stage name Sarkodie, has replied actress Yvonne Nelson over the abortion claims she leveled against him in his new track Try Me.
The song, which is a blend of Hip-hop and afrobeats produced by MOG Music, captures details that have been anticipated by Ghanaians, as Yvonne Nelson claimed Sarkodie was living with his mother and wasn’t ready to carry a burden, hence necessitating an abortion weeks ago in her memoir “I am not Yvonne Nelson”.
The song has so far exceeded 77,000 views in 7 hours after its release on YouTube.
Sarkodie has bluntly replied to the abortion allegations, stating that Yvonne Nelson shouldn’t act to make it seem he is the one who called for the abortion because it gets him angry. Admitting that though he wasn’t ready, he told her to keep, but she denied, claiming she has to complete school.
He first registered his reluctance to take this turn, but he was ready to take certain things to the grave. He applauded Yvonne for coming out but rebuked her for coming out with the whole truth about the niggaa that f**ked her.
Sarkodie hits Yvonne with startling bullets, saying that she shouldn’t paint the picture of a victim and that she was looking for love from all the d**cks that she sucked.
He further drops bombshells in the verses where he says Yvonne Nelson told him she was expecting a baby, and being a street boy, he knew the game.
He stated that he didn’t believe Yvonne Nelson’s claim that she had to complete school so she had to get rid of the pregnancy because he told his doctor to check her up, but she declined the checkup.
Yvonne then texted Sarkodie, recounting that her friend had recommended a doctor, and she knew he was the best.
The lyrics ran into the present as he scripted recent foreplays to the whole brouhaha that topped trends in Ghana.
He revealed that a few weeks ago, Yvonne tried to set him up again when she intentionally texted him on WhatsApp that she was still going through the pain. However, knowing her so well, he knew she was up to something.
He further said that he had arranged a meeting at Skybar, but Yvonne declined the meeting, claiming there were lots of people there and he should rather make it to his house. He declined the request, saying he couldn’t come to her house at 7:00 p.m., quoting an adage that interprets “once bitten, twice shy”.
Sarkodie lamented how women’s accounts are believed over men’s in our current social setting. He admonished her to take the blame for her bad choices and stop the personal attack.
He rounded it up by stating how the book gained clout a few hours after it was published, not owing to its good contents but because negativity sells. He wished her a speedy recovery from the pain and rebuked her to stop claiming that he is for the street. And remarked that he has a copy of the book.
This story unfolds after Yvonne Nelson’s book, foreworded by Investigative Journalist Mannaseh Azureh, painted sarkodie as a man who shirked responsibility of a pregnancy when he was living with his mom with an uncertain future.
“I wasn’t the only one responsible for the situation, so I called the man whose potent seed had germinated in me. His name is Michael Owusu Addo, a renowned Ghanaian musician who is better known as Sarkodie”.
“Sarkodie was a budding musician with the potential to become one of the biggest artists in Ghana and beyond. At the time, however, the future looked uncertain, and his way through the maze of life still appeared too foggy to predict. Success was not guaranteed. He was still living with his mother and was not ready to carry a burden while he was being carried by his mother,” she added.”
