Dr. Kwabena Duffour withdraws injunction suit against NDC

Dr. Kwabena Duffour’s injuction suit against the National Democratic Congress’ Parliamentary and Presidential primaries has been struck out by the Accra High Court today, Friday, May 12.

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) opposition party heads for the polls tomorrow to elect parliamentary candidates and flagberer to contest the 2024 elections. However, Dr. Kwabena Duffuor one of the aspirants hopeful for the flagbearer filed a suit against the party to injunct the electoral process from taking place.

This morning In court, the plaintiff, Dr.Kwabena Duffuor filed an application to withdraw the suit he filed against his political party the NDC before the judge called for the case to be heard.

The NDC legal team as well as the Electoral Commission didn’t not contest the plaintiff’s position.

Dr  Duffuor’s lamented inconsistencies in the Voters register submitted by the party ahead of the elections. He alleged it omitted a list of voters from the register.

The NDC however contended that it has so far rectified most of the errors that have been identified by Dr. Duffuor’s team and they deemed the writ as frivolous.

“We submit that the plaintiff’s suit is incompetent and therefore ought to be dismissed in limine. Again, the plaintiff has not been able to demonstrate on the face of his pleadings and affidavit that it is just or convenient for the Honourable Court to grant the injunction that he seeks.”

The Electoral Commission has now conceded to supervise the election following the withdrawal of the case from court.
