Electoral Commission declares April 30 for Ejisu by-election

The Electoral Commission (EC) has announced Tuesday, April, 30 as the date slated for the by-election at the Ejisu Constituency in the Ashanti Region to re-elect a new member of Parliament following the demise of John Kumah which has left the seat vacant.

The EC broke this news at a meeting with the Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC)  on Tuesday, April 9, to address matters concerning the missing Biometric Verification Devices which the opposition National Democratic Congress brought to light and agitated for clarity.

Meanwhile, the New Patriotic Party, announced Saturday, April 13 for the internal primaries to elect a candidate for the by-election slated for April 30.

On April 6, The Vetting Committee of the New Patriotic Party cleared all nine aspirants to contest in the primaries after they all picked forms for the vacant seat when nominations were opened on Tuesday, April.

Klinsman Karikari Mensah
Helena Mensah
Jacqueline Abena Pokua Amoah-Boaitey
Portia Baffoe Abronye
Kwesi Nyantakyi
Aaron Prince Duah
Yaa Akyawmaa Aboagye

The National Democratic Congress has not yet confirmed its candidacy in the upcoming by-election.

John Kumah, also a Deputy Finance Minister, died on Thursday, March 7, at the age of 45, after succumbing to illness. He left behind a wife and six children.
