Brazilian football giants Flamengo have withdrawn interest in signing former Manchester United forward Anthony Martial after reports claim exorbitant demands by the Frenchman.
The 28-year-old Frenchman has lost two bids after leaving Manchester United as a free agent, admitting a pool of interest from top-tier clubs in Europe.
According to reports from a news outlet, Meia Hora, the deal came to deadlock after the demands by Martial were deemed ‘unworkable’ by Flamengo despite initial talks with his agent.
Flamengo showed interest in the Frenchman after their forward Pedro Guilherme Abreu dos Santos suffered a knee injury in training with the Brazilian team.
Per Meia Hora’s report, Martial is demanding a three-year contract and undisclosed high wages, which Flamengo cannot fulfill.
This is Martial’s second bid that has fallen through after he rejected a mouthwatering deal from Greek giants AEK Athen, who were offering the biggest contract in the club’s history to the ex-Man Utd star.
Anthony Martial managed to score 91 goals during his 9-year stint after making 327 appearances at Manchester United, in the Premier League, EFL, FA Cup, and Champions League.
A plethora of injuries and lack of playing time ruined his career at Old Trafford, leading to his departure as a free agent in June.
