Joining TV3 is my best career decision so far – says Berla Mundi as she engages KNUST Students

Multiple award-winning Broadcast Journalist, Media Personality, and Founder of B. You, Berla Mundi has described her move to TV3, a leading media Company in Accra as the best career decision she has made so far.

She was speaking at the “level up conference” held over the Weekend at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology( KNUST) under the theme “ Synergizing communication, Penmanship and Digital skills”.

The conference was organized under the auspices of the KNUST Student Representative Council (SRC) with support from Xviral, Twisco, and Cowbell to explore the relationship between communication, penmanship, and Digital skills while creating a multifaceted opportunity for communication students.

Speaking at the conference, Berla Mundi shared insights with the students into her career journey including the victories, pitfalls, and challenges she had to endure to gain a level of mastery and confidence in her field of profession.

She highlighted the importance of dedication and unwavering commitment in a chosen field of endeavor as a tool to achieving success enabling the students to strive for excellence in identifying their talents and crafts early in life to make an impact.

Berla Mundi recounted previous events where she scheduled her time proportionately so that she could balance professional work with other equally important projects and plans.

The renowned Journalist advised the students to be time conscious by managing working hours and resting hours judiciously and always prepare speeches before making public presentations on any platform.

She urged the students to be resilient and ignore negative criticism despite the challenges they may experience at the workspace.

“We have to learn to ignore the noise…there is going to be a lot of noise around you… it’s not just media… everywhere you go there will be noise around you, you have to choose which one you let in and which one you let out” Berla advised.

“in the beginning, if you’re crying it’s okay.. but as you move along just tell yourself not everybody will be happy with what you’re doing… you know your truth… sometimes you don’t need to go out explaining to everybody… I don’t waste my time, say whatever you want, I don’t worry because I know what my truth is and that is enough for me”.

“the people who love you and know you for who you are, once they know the truth, everybody doesn’t matter” she told the students

Project Manager for B. You, Emelia Josiah said the foundation is a brainchild of Berla Mundi tailored to provide mentorship and career guidance programs to nurture young minds as well as discover their full potential in the professional setting.

She was delighted with the visit to the University and was hopeful of returning with the team to undertake similar career-honing projects for the students in the foreseeable future.

As part of activities earmarked for the year, she disclosed that the foundation was gearing up to tour other tertiary institutions to impact the lives of more students across the country.
