Karim Benzema possibly set to leave Real Madrid

It has been rumoured that Karim Benzema will announce his departure from Real Madrid today after 14 years of play in Santiago Bernabeu ahead of his move to Al Ittihad.

The world have been on the edge of our seats after conversations, rumours and tweets have arisen around the Ballon d’or winner’s move from Real Madrid to Al Ittihad who have tabled a €200 million contract for two seasons, he shall retain 100% of his image rights, advertising money, and will also be an ambassador of the 2030 World Cup.

The Frenchman is expected to deliver his departure speech to Real Madrid today as he is tipped to join Christiano Ronaldo in the Saudi Pro League’s side Al Ittihad.

In his 14 years career at Santiago Bernabue, he has won a Ballon d’or and Fifa Men’s Best Player of the 2021-2022 season. He has also played 647 games, scored 353 goals and has 165 assists which happens to be the most assists in Real Madrid history after he joined from Olympique Lyon in 2009.

Ranked the 2nd player with most goals in Real Madrid history, he has been decorated with 25 trophies and many prestigious awards.

Benzema levelled Marcelo’s 25 titles at Madrid to also be considered as the most decorated Madridista after lifting the Copa Del Rey trophy following their triumph over Osasuna at the Estadio La Cartuja.

His titles includes: 5 Champions League, 5 Club World Cups, 4 European Super Cups, 4 LaLiga titles, 3 Copas del Rey and 4 Spanish Super Cups.

Despite injury pitfalls, the striker managed to score 30 goals and six assists in 42 matches across competitions in the 2022-2023 season.
