Alhaji Grusa’s King Faisal has been relegated from the Ghana Premier League after failing to survive beyond the relegation belt in the league table.
King Faisal’s exit is not solo, as they join Ebusua Dwarfs and Amidaus Professional in Division One.
In a 1-1 draw against Berekum Chelsea at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, King Faisal’s hope was dashed as their relegation contenders, Aduan Stars, beat Kumasi Asante Kotoko at home.Â
Tetteh Nortey broke the deadlock in the game and nudged King Faisal ahead in the match. However, their celebration came to an abrupt end after Denis Tetteh equalized to level the score, which made both teams share the point.
Ebusua Dwarfs also bowed in tears as their relegation fate was determined at the Cape Coast Stadium in a goalless draw against Inter Allies.
Amidaus Professional also couldn’t hold their position as they lost 3-2 to Bechem United at the Tema Stadium.
King Faisal got promoted to the Premier League in 2019 through a decision by the Ghana Football Association Congress. This consequently admitted Great Olympics and King Faisal into the Premier League following a proposal by the Normalization Committee to expand the league. This increased the number of clubs in the league from 16 to 18 for the 2019/20 season. Â
