In form Ghanaian winger, Kwadwo Opoku came off the bench to score the only goal in Los Angeles’ 1-0 victory over DC United in the Major League Soccer on Wednesday morning.
The Ghanaian winger was introduced into the game in the 62nd minute, replacing Uruguayan, Brian Rodriguez before going on to win his side maximum points in their crunch encounter over Wayne Rooney’s DC United at the Banc of California Stadium in LA.
It was the second consecutive game the winger had started from the bench, after replacing Brian Rodriguez in their previous MLS game, a 5-0 victory over Charlotte FC.
Kwadwo Poku got off the mark just 5 minutes after been thrown into the game, finishing a sublime counter attack initiated by Carlos Vela who passed the ball onto the feet of Columbian Cristian Arango, who unselfishly squared the ball past the on rushing DC United goalkeeper for the Ghanaian to calmly slot home.
The goal was the wingers 6th of the season and the victory for LAFC helped them open a 9 point gap at the summit of the table over second placed Austin FC.
