Nkoranza South MP Discloses Intended Demo By Constituent Over Death Of Albert Donkor

The Member of Parliament for Nkoranza South Constituency, Hon. Emmanuel Kojo Agyekum said youths in his constituency will embark on a demonstration this Friday, May 27, 2022 over the alleged shooting and killing of Police Suspect Albert Donkor at Nkoranza.

Speaking on Citi tv’s political show, The Big Issue, the Nkoranza South MP said they will notify the Ghana Police Service on intended demonstration by the youths of Nkoranza today, May 23, 2022.

According to Hon. Agyekum, the demonstration by the youths is to express their displeasure over the killing of Albert Donkor and a call on the police authority to bring all perpetrators to face justice.

He said they will organize a press conference on Tuesday, May 24, 2022 ahead of the demonstration on Friday.

The legislator expressed disquiet about police handling of the situation. He said the police administration has not not handled the situation properly right from the shooting and killing of the Albert and one other person till now.

He alleged the police killing of one person and injuring of several people during a protest over Albert’s death and series of statements issued by the police demonstrates how poor the police have handled the issue.

Hon. Agyekum said the numerous police statements is an insult to the people of Nkoronza and rather aggravates the situation by creating extreme anger among the youths.

Some weeks ago, the Special Anti-robbery Task Force of the police service undertook an intelligence led operation in the Nkoranza enclave to curb robbery attacks in the area. The operation led to the shooting and killing of one Albert Donkor, a person the police perceived to be part of a gang of five(5) robbers. The situation angered the youths of Nkoranza which they refuted police report that Albert was part of a robbery gang. The youths later protested against the action of the police.
