Paris Saint-Germain coach, Christopher Galtier and his son Valovic Galtier have been arrested by the police following racial discrimination and an Islamophobic comment he made during his coaching career at OG Nice.
The 56-year-old manager has been picked to aid in an investigation by the police, and charges may be leveled against him based on allegations of racial discrimination he made in April when coaching French Ligue 1 side, OG Nice in the 2021-2022 season.
There is also an alleged email where he said, “You have built a team of scum. There are only blacks and half the team goes to the mosque on Friday”
Searches have been conducted at the offices of OG Nice, and players and off-pitch staff, including the club president, Jean-Pierre Rivere, are being interrogated to assist the investigation.
However, Christopher Galtier has denied these allegations in a statement he has issued through his lawyer, stating that he is firmly hooked to his innocence in the averments made against him and will initiate legal action.
“Christophe Galtier was amazed to learn of the insulting and defamatory remarks of Mr. Julien Fournier against him. Given the seriousness of the charges against him, which he disputes with the greatest firmness, Christophe Galtier immediately seized his lawyer… to initiate, without delay, the necessary legal proceedings which are necessary.” the statement read.
PSG commented on the allegations in April, stating, “Serious allegations have been made in the media against our coach Christophe Galtier. Christophe responded clearly by firmly denying them and announcing that he was going to take legal action. The club supports Christophe Galtier after the numerous and unacceptable threats he has received and now wants the truth to be established by justice.
Galtier is set to exit PSG after an underwhelming performance in the 2022–2023 season and a disappointing knockout from the Champions League in the Round of 16 stage by Bayern Munich.
