According to the Minister, Western Region is the most cosmopolitan region of Ghana. Moreover, fourteen (14) districts with a population of two million and sixty thousand (2,060,000) constitute the Western Region. He added that there is an availability of different tourist sites at the house and welcomes everyone.

“From Shama to Asankrangwa, the Western Region is dotted with a lot of tourist attractions from museums, castles, and forts. The Western Region continues to be a welcoming home for all Ghanaians and the diaspora”.

Mr. Okyere-Darko discussed that his book, “Discover Western Region” has been created as part of the agenda for positioning the Western Region as the number one tourist destination here in Ghana.

“This book covers all the tourism plans and activities we have in the Western Region”.

In addition, he stated that, apart from the tourist plans and reserves which are noted by the multitudes, a lot of people can equally testify to the enormous Christmas festival which has now turned into one of Ghana’s setting projects which encompasses 10 arenas with more than 60 activities.

He further explained that, despite the attractive tourist reserves and sites, the region has amazing traditional festivals which credit the Western part of Ghana.

“Again, there are traditional festivals such as Kundum, Odidi, and Yam festivals (Alluolue) which are celebrated by the Ahantas/Nzemas/, Wassas and Mpesas (Sefwi Wiawso and Sefwi Bekwai)”.

He added that the book, “Discover Western Region” provides composite details of organizers and personnel who can be contacted at the thought of stepping down to the West to relax, have fun or meet for conferences.

Honourable Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah advertised his belief in the adage that “The best comes from the West” and therefore welcomes all to the Western Region of Ghana.
